Magazine Cover Reflection

The Photoshop project was pretty fun. I came up with the idea to make a Phillies Sports Illustrated cover because I felt like it would look the coolest and they deserved it. The Phillies are my favorite team so it was easy for me to visualize what I wanted to say and put into the cover. I chose the title “core duo” because Ryan Howard and Chase Utley are the two players who hold the offense together. Batting 3rd and 4th, they are the toughest duo in sports. To start the project, I added in the Sports Illustrated title. With the title in place I was able to picture what images I wanted and where. I chose to copy edit pictures of Howard and Utley hitting home runs. After erasing and cutting the parts of the pictures I didn’t want, I was able to add in a background cover, a picture of a night game at Citizens Bank Park. The picture of The Bank allowed me to add in other pictures of Utley and Howard, this time holding the World Series trophy. I faded the opacity on these two pictures to give the cover the effect of the success the players have had over the years. After that I added in the text layers and finished the project.
