Reflection on Collage Project

Reflection
I thought overall this project was really fun. I liked using different tools to create the collage I thought best suited my time at La Salle using my chosen images. I first went around the school and took pictures, trying to take some from each part. My main goal was to show in my pictures how much I enjoyed everything at school during my four years. After taking the pictures I uploaded them to my folder, and then picked and chose which I felt best represented the mood of my collage. Instead of using a lot of pictures from the server, I only took one, and the rest of my pictures were either from Facebook or the camera. Next came putting the pictures on the background, and picture of La Salle’s campus. I chose the pictures and put them all on the background, then arranging them the way I wanted. I originally had a different photoshop design with a different background, but midway through I decided to change it and go with my current one. After cutting and changing the effects on the pictures, I was able to set the pictures in the order that I felt best suited the background. I wanted the viewers of this collage to be able to see that in my background of the school’s campus, the pictures weren’t on the school. I wanted to keep the school part of the background visible to show that even though I’m a senior, the school will always mean a lot to me. I thought it would be cool to order the pictures like a border, with some overlapping others. I also decided to change the opacity levels on a few pictures to make the collage look cooler. I remember using the opacity tool for my sports illustrated cover project and I liked how that turned out so I figured I’d try it again and I liked my results. I also added in some text, ending it with a picture that says a phrase I thought fit the collage well. I decided to use the warp text tool and it came out well. Overall, this project was a great way to show me and others how much fun I had at La Salle and how I’ll always remember and appreciate my time here. Seeing how the other seniors reacted to their project was cool as well, and I think everyone got the feel that this was our last chance to make a big project that was our own before we graduate.

Magazine Cover Reflection

The Photoshop project was pretty fun. I came up with the idea to make a Phillies Sports Illustrated cover because I felt like it would look the coolest and they deserved it. The Phillies are my favorite team so it was easy for me to visualize what I wanted to say and put into the cover. I chose the title “core duo” because Ryan Howard and Chase Utley are the two players who hold the offense together. Batting 3rd and 4th, they are the toughest duo in sports. To start the project, I added in the Sports Illustrated title. With the title in place I was able to picture what images I wanted and where. I chose to copy edit pictures of Howard and Utley hitting home runs. After erasing and cutting the parts of the pictures I didn’t want, I was able to add in a background cover, a picture of a night game at Citizens Bank Park. The picture of The Bank allowed me to add in other pictures of Utley and Howard, this time holding the World Series trophy. I faded the opacity on these two pictures to give the cover the effect of the success the players have had over the years. After that I added in the text layers and finished the project.
